Funeral services for Mrs. Miriam Hazzard, well known Lewis county pioneer, were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon. Rev. J. M. Paxton officiated, being assisted by Rev. S. S. Healey, former local pastor, who now resides at Puyallup. There was a profusion of beautiful flowers and many friends joined the procession to Claquato, where burial was made, directed by E. C. Fissel. The Eastern Star lodge of which Mrs. Hazzard was a charter member, had a part in the services. Mrs. Hazzard's last resting place at Claquato cemetery is in sight of the Hazzard home there where the family lived from the time Mr. and Mrs. Hazzard came to Lewis county more than 47 years ago unti Mr. Hazzard's death in 1920.
