O. F. Saindon Dies Wednesday Morning
Another of Few Remaining Lewis County Pioneers Is Gone

O. F. Saindon died at the family home on Market street early Wednesday morning, a heart attack being the immediate cause of his death. Mr. Saindon, who had been a resident of Lewis county since November, 1878, had been engaged in the mercantile business in Chehalis for 15 years, retiring from the firm of O. F. Saindon & Company within recent months due to ill health. He had taken an active part as a citizen, serving as a member of the town council and in other positions. Mr. Saindon was a member of the Chehalis Elks lodge and the Woodmen of the World. He was 71 years of age, his birthplace being in Illinois and the date July 14, 1858. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Saindon, were among the early settlers of Cowlitz prairie, 17 miles southeast of Chehalis, dating from the fall of 1878. The late Rev. Father Hiram P. Saindon of Everett, who died while on a trip to the Orient, and whose funeral was held at Chehalis late in November, was a brother, of whom there are now two surviving, Joe and Alex Saindon, local merchants.

In addition to the brothers named, surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Saindon; two sons, Harry of Los Angeles and Emil Saindon of Seattle; three daughters, Mrs. Eunice Gates of Malaga, Mrs. Agnes Green of Chehalis and Mrs. Kathleen Kline of Los Angeles; also two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Calvin of Seattle and Mrs. Eleanor Chamberlain of Chehalis. The body was removed to the Fissel Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at the Fissel Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. S. S. Healty of Tenino, former local Presbyterian pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Fern Hill Cemetery.
