Oscar Huhta Loses Life At Wilkeson

Wilkeson, Dec. 16. - The bodies of John S. Johnson and Oscar Huhta, Wilkeson miners, entombed 1400 feet under the ground for more than a week at the Wilkeson Coal and Coke company mine, were located at 8 o'clock this evening. Both men were dead.

Johnson and Huhta were buried under a slide here last Wednesday and rescue crews had been working 24 hours a day with gradually dwindling hopes that the men would be rescued.

Mr. Huhta, who formerly lived near Vader, and also at Chehalis, is survived by his widow and nine year old son Billy. Mrs. Walter Tauscher of Chehalis, who is related to the Huhtas, spent the week at Wilkeson with Mrs. Huhta during the trying hours while rescuing crews were trying to recover the bodies of the unfortunate men.
