"Two Roundtree Family Members Die On Same Day"

Two of Lewis county's oldest and best known pioneers, of the same family name, passed away Sunday. Mrs. Minerva Roundtree, aged 87 years, died early Sunday morning at the family home at Klaber. She was born February 10, 1849, in Missouri, and crossed the plains in 1869 to Lewis county, settling in the Boistfort valley district. Her husband, Patrick H. Roundtree, well known pioneer, died several years ago. She is survived by four sons, John and Alfred Roundtree of Klaber, Harvey of Shelton and Charles of Olympia; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Damitz of Klaber; three sisters, Mrs. Flora Gishmiller, Mrs. Nancy Moon and Mrs. Emma Hubbard, all of Centralia; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Boistfort Grange hall, Rev. Carl A. Johnson of the Christian church, Chehalis, officiating. Interment was in Boistfort cemetery under direction of the Fissell Funeral Home of Chehalis.

Mrs. Alice Roundtree, aged 58 years, native born at Boistfort, June 5, 1878, died in a local hospital at noon Sunday. She was an active member of the Boistfort Grange. She is survived by her widower, Glenn Roundtree; two sons, Orville Roundtree of Chehalis and Oliver Roundtree of Ryderwood; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Duncan of Ryderwood, Mrs. Helen Myers of Silver Lake, Wash., and Miss Bernice Roundtree of Ryderwood; her mother, Mrs. M. C. Givens of Klaber; four brothers, Albert Miller of Alpha, Walter, John and Louis Miller, all of Klaber; a sister, Mrs. Olive McAdams of Tacoma; and 17 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Klaber church, Reverend Finkbinder of Raymond officiating. Interment was in Boistfort cemetery, under direction of the Fissell Funeral Home of Chehalis.
