Winlock Pioneer Dies
Mrs. Sarah Baldwin, for the past 16 years a resident of Winlock, passed away Sunday after an illness of five years. The funeral services were held Tuesday with interment in the Winlock cemetery. Five sons and a grandson acted as pallbearers and a large number of friends and acquaintances from all over the section attended the funeral.
Mrs. Baldwin was 82 years of age and had crossed the plains from Kansas to Oregon in the early days, later coming from Buena Vista, Oregon to Winlock. She was a woman of strong personality and her lovable character endeared her not only to her family but to a large circle of friends. She is survived by ten children: H. A. Baldwin of Winlock: Samuel Baldwin of Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. J. A. Veness, of Portland; Mrs. Hughes of Portland; John Baldwin, of Oregon and two other daughters also living in Oregon; Hugh, Nell and Dow Baldwin, all of Winlock. Her husband passed away two years ago.
