Sidney Pier Dies At Castle Rock

Sidney C. Pier, aged 57 years, died at the home of his son, Emmett Pier, at Castle Rock, Saturday morning. Mr. Pier was born November 18, 1874 in Iowas, and had followed farming and logging. He married Miss Bennita Albritton in Chehalis in 1899. Mr. and Mrs. Pier resided in Lewis county a number of years; and afterwards in British Columbia and Idaho, previous to locating in Cowlitz county about two years ago. Mr. Pier is survived by his widow and four daughters, Mrs. Burton Browning of Payette, Ida.; Mrs. S. D. Simpson and Miss Mildred Pier of Hoodsport; Miss Beatrice Pier of Castle Rock, and two sons, LaVerne Pier of Hoodsport and Emmett Pier of Castle Rock; five brothers, S. L. Pier of Klaber, E. E. Pier and George Pier of Chehalis, Clark Pier of British Columbia and Loren Pier of Astoria; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Tauscher of Vader, Mrs. Emma Banks of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Mrs. Inex Musser of Oakland, Calif.; and his stepmother, Mrs. Dora C. Pier of Chehalis, now visiting in Oakland, Calif.; A number of local relatives of Mr. Pier attended his funeral, which was held Monday at Castle Rock. Rev. H. J. Harding officiated. Burial was in the Whittle cemetery at that place.
