Silas M. Jones

Silas M. Jones, the father of W. H. Jones, of Centralia, died at Vancouver, B. C., on Monday, February 18th. Mr. Jones was called by telegraph and got there a few hours before his father passed away. He was conscious and he talked to his son for some time. The body was taken to Chehalis by Mr. Jones and the interment took place in Urquhart's cemetery, Rev. S. P. Hale officiating. The funeral sermon was preached in the undertaking rooms of L. J. Sticklin.

Mr. Jones was born in the state of Indiana on May 30, 1824, making him at the time of his death nearly 81 years of age. He emigrated to the state of Oregon in 1852, locating near Salem. In 1870, he moved his family to Lewis county, Washington, locating near Newaukum station. In 1877 he moved to Tacoma, where his wife died about six years ago. For the past six months he has been living with his son in Vancouver, B. C. The relatives present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Willard Jones of Tacoma; Mrs. Beaver, of Tacoma; Mrs. Green, of Orting; Cal Garrison, of Centralia, and the family of W. H. Jones.
