Mrs. Sarah Perkins died at the home of her son, G. H. Ford, in Centralia, October 30, the cause of her death being given as senile decay, and the funeral was held on Wednesday, from the home of her son, in north Centralia, Rev. F. S. Pearson, officiating.
Sarah Smith was born in Lincolnshire, England, March 21, 1821 and was 85 years old at the time of her death. She was twice married, the first time to William Ford, the marriage taking place in 1841. Ten children were born of this union, and seven are now living. Mr. Ford died in 1862. Ten years later Mrs. Ford married again, this time to Jacob Perkins and he died in 1895. In August, 1902, she came to America and about two years ago she moved to Washington, where she made her home with her son, George Ford. Seven children, 60 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, lived to bless her old age.
