Thomas F. Verner

Thomas F. Verner, head of the Chehalis Land Company, and one of Chehalis' best known businessmen, died early Sunday morning from a stroke of apoplexy which followed a heart attack. He was taken ill about 4 o'clock and death resulted two hours later. Mr. Verner had been suffering recently from high blood pressure and was in Seattle Saturday to consult a specialist, returning home late in the day. He was 49 years of age and had been a resident of Chehalis the past 25 years or more. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Margaret Verner, and a son, Sam Verner, who is a well known Chehalis high school student.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church at 9:30 yesterday morning. Rev. Father A. McGrath officiated. Burial was at Claquato, directed by the John W. Boone Mortuary.
