Verne J. Mater
Verne J. Mater, 74, died at a Centralia hospital Wednesday following a year-long illness.
Mr. Mater was born Sept. 20, 1899, in Chicago and had resided in Centralia for the past five years. He was a former 30-year resident of the Los Angeles area and in earlier years had lived in South Dakota.
Mr. Mater served in the U.S. Army during World War I and was an active and longtime member of the American Legion. He was a former member of the Ipswich, S.D., Elks.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle M., Centralia; two daughters, Mrs. Jeanenne Bowers and Mrs. Margie Perrigue, both of Downey, Calif., and two grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending at Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
