The death of William C. Hazzard, 64, occurred about midnight Monday, at his home at Buhl, Idaho, according to a telegram received Tuesday by his sister, Mrs. George L. Twiss of Chehalis. He suffered a stroke about a year ago and death resulted from a recurrence. Mr. Hazzard was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hazzard, former respected pioneers of Claquato, three miles west of Chehalis where his early manhood was spent. He was born in Scottsburg, Ind., October 6, 1870. He graduated from Stanford University in its first class, former President Herbert Hoover being one of the number. Later Mr. Hazzard attained his master's degree at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Afterwards he taught at Peoria, Ill., until he became associated with the Silver-Burdett Co., publishers of school books, with which concern he spent several years. During recent years Mr. Hazzard had owned and operated the electric water power plant at Buhl, which he sold two years ago. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Louise Hazzard of Buhl; a brother, Colonel O.P.M. Hazzard of the Presidio, San Francisco; and his sister, Mrs. Twiss. Funeral services were held at Buhl and burial made at that place.
