"William Zeek Dies in Night"

William F. Zeek, one of the few remaining veterans of the Civil war, whose home was in Chehalis, died quietly Wednesday night while asleep in his bed at his home at Third street and Washington avenue. He was 93 years of age and had been a resident of Lewis county for many years past. During the Civil was Mr. Zeek served as quartermaster in a Wisconsin regiment up to the close of the conflict in 1865. He ws a member of Joe Hooker Post, G.A.R. of Chehalis; also of the Elks lodge here. Five sons, Albert and Mark of Seattle; Horace of Covlo. Calif.; Ethan of Union, Ore.; Frederick of Cle Elum, Wash., and five daughters, Mrs. Alice Roberts of Mossyrock, Mrs. Nora Thomas of Ellensburg, Mrs. Alpha Peterson of Silver Creek, Mrs. Alma Moore of Chehalis, and Mrs. Lucy Jones of Tacoma survive him. There are also 39 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A brother, John Zeek, resides in Oregon, and a sister, Mrs. Phoebe Stamp, in Kelso.

The body is held at the Fissel Funeral Home pending arrangements for the funeral.
