Walter H. Twiss Dies at Tacoma Monday

Walter H. Twiss died at the Pierce county hospital, Tacoma, Monday, following a lingering illness. He would have been 61 years of age in October. Mr. Twiss was a son of Colonel and Mrs. C. P. Twiss, prominent pioneers of the south fork of the Newaukum, both long since deceased, and came to Lewis county with his parents in the early eighties. Most of his life had been spent in Lewis county, excepting for a few years he lived at Tacoma. Surviving relatives are two brothers, George L. Twiss and Paige Twiss of Chehalis; a daughter, Mrs. Florence Christenson of Wenatchee; and thee sons, Harris Twiss of Twisp, Wash.; Robert Twiss of Chicago and Stewart Twiss of Rhodesia, South Africa. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Boone's mortuary. Rev. J. C. Tourtelott of the Presbyterian church officiated. Burial was in the Twiss family plot at Fern Hill cemetery.
