Mr. William Henry Young, an old settler and pioneer of Lewis county, died at his home in this city on Monday morning, August 9th, after a painful illness of more than a year. The funeral services were from the family residence on Pine street this Wednesday afternoon, Rev. H. S. Black officiating.
Mr. Young was born in Montpelier, Vt., February 2, 1843, and was, consequently a little over sixty-six years old at the time of his death. In 1881, Mr. Young and his family moved from Minnesota, where they had been living, to Oregon, coming to this state and county and settling on Jackson Prairie a year later. Before coming to Centralia the family lived for some time in Winlock. Mr. Young was a veteran of the Civil war and his long residence in this county gave him a large circle of friends.
Mr. Young leaves, besides his widow, three children: Mrs. J. T. Lee of Wilkerson; Mrs. C. A. Axtell, of Umtanum, this state, and Chas. A. Young of this city.
