I descend from the McAfees of Mercer Co., Kentucky. My 5th-great grandfather, Robert McAfee, was part of the McAfee Company of 4 brothers and other kin who surveyed the area of central Kentucky, and established Fort McAfee in what is now Mercer Co. Since beginning my research in earnest in 1995, the more I learn about my roots, the more pride I feel in the pioneer spirit of my ancestors.
This update (February 2012) is the seventh major revision since the database was originally posted in 1999. I am very grateful to all of the cousins who have shared their research with me, and have given permission to post it here - thank you!!! What follows are family register reports for the descendants of John McAfee Sr. to eight generations. My line is: John I - John II - James - Robert - Samuel - William C. - Clark Roberson - Laura Alice (my great-grandmother).
I have made every attempt to accurately record and document the data presented here. However, there will undoubtedly be incomplete information or discrepancies. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments about this database. If you do note any discrepancies, please identify your sources.
Hope you find what you are looking for here! Enjoy! -- Jenny Tenlen
A few notes about the database:
- This database ends at the 8th generation removed from John McAfee I since the majority of families in the 9th generation have at least one living member. Any individual born after 1910, with no known death date, is listed as (Private).
- Names enclosed in () are alternative first names for the given individual.
- Names marked by "" are nicknames, and appear after the full first name.
- Within the index, the same individual may be listed twice. This is a quirk of my genealogy software and results whenever cousins marry (children of cousins are listed under both parents).
