This directory was created to provide descendants of John McAfee II and Mary Rodgers, through their children James McAfee Sr. and Mary McAfee Curry, a means to share research and communicate with one another. Researchers are organized by their descent from the grandchildren of John McAfee Jr. and Mary Rodgers.

Marion Clarke Bennett GanzelI am interested in the beginnings of the McAfee family in Scotland. As a result, I visited the isle of Colonsay (Inner Hebrides) where they originally lived. At that time (2003), there was only one McAfee still living there but I met a whole roomful of Mcafees visiting there. It looked like reunion but was totally unplanned. It just happened by luck! I also went to the Isle of Iona hoping to find the burial tomb of Malcolm McAfee, Highland Chief of Colonsay. He was the last one. On her marriage certificate, her miaden name is spelled "Richards". However, on her son John Ritchie McAfee's death certificate, her maiden name is spelled "Ritchie". She was born in Jun 1811 in KY (according to 1900 census). She and William were married 20 Jan 1831 in Clay Co., MO. She died 11 Sep 1888 in Elkhorn Twp., San Joaquin Co., CA and is buried at Woodbridge Cemetery. I have all of her probate records (100+ pages) that provides detailed information on descendants - but no clues on any possible siblings or parents. According to census records, her father was born in VA and mother in TN, but so far I have been unable to find them in any records (including the 1830 Clay Co., MO census.) - 1.7 Margaret McAfee (1747, Lancaster Co., PA - ?) and George Buchanan (abt 1745, Co.
