Death of William Johnson "W. J." Smith

"I'm sorry to pass along to everyone that one of us has passed on. William Johnson "W.J." Smith was a dedicated descendant of Robert McAfee and one of the initiators of the project to secure the SAR markers for all of the brothers. He was chairman of the Anderson County Historical Society, and sometimes portryed his McAfee ancester as part of a living history program for local libraries and schools. He was aware that the markers had arrived and was looking forward to dedicating them later this summer. I regret that he was not able to see his ancestor recognized.
My prayers and thoughts are with his family."
