Pacific Pioneer Dies

LEBAM - A pioneer resident of Lebam and Pacific County, Mrs. Josephine Matilda Gunderson, 89, died Wednesday in a South Bend hospital.

Mrs. Gunderson was born Oct. 10, 1873, in Aurora, Ore., and came to Pacific County when she was a baby. She was a 30-year member of the Ferndale Rebekah lodge and a lifelong member of the Lebam Methodist church. her husband, the late Edward Gunderson, died in 1928.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Hyatt, Waldport, Ore., a son, Fred, South Bend; sister, Mrs. Nellie Kight, Centralia, and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Murphy chapel in Raymond. The Rev. Bernard Mott will officiate with a member of the Ferndale Rebekah lodge assisting. Burial will be in the Lebam cemetery.
