Oliver Workman Passes
RIFFE - Elder Oliver Workman, 77, died Wednesday at the home of a daughter in Mossyrock after a two-month illness.
Born Oct. 20, 1884, in McDowell County, W. Va., he came to Lewis County in 1905. A logger by occupation, he was also minister of the old Regular Baptist Church at Riffe.
Survivors include four sons, Ribern, Mossyrock; Silas, Lynden; Curley and Cecil Workman, both of Riffe; four daughters, Mrs. Carrie Godfrey, Centralia; Mrs. Irene Lane, Mrs. Mabel Godfrey and Mrs. Ann Stamper, all of Mossyrock; five brothers, Alex, Swiss Home, Ore.; Edward, Centralia; Earl, Holcomb; Andrew, Blue Lake, Calif.; and Clavey, Mossyrock; five sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Rose, Riffe; Mrs. Rosie Blakley, Raymond; Mrs. Pearl Martin, San Diego; Mrs. Bernice Porter, Spanaway, and Mrs. Goldie Smith, Aberdeen; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchidren.
Funeral services are Monday at 1 p.m. at the Western Union Baptist church, Riffe. Elders Wells Seagle and Mark Stiltner will officiate and vault interment will follow at the Doss cemetery, Mossyrock. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fir Lawn Funeral Home, Toledo.
