PE ELL MOURNS FOR TWO CITIZENS

Pe Ell, Oct. 28. - Mrs. Lucy Barshaw, aged 64 native of Michigan, who for the last six years was a resident of Pe Ell, died at her home here early Saturday morning. Her death, following an illness of only a few days, came as a distinct shock to her family and friends. During the years of her residence in Pe Ell, Mrs. Barshaw was an active force in the civic and social life of the community. She possessed in rare measure the spirit of youth, which, coupled with life's experiences, made her a valued friend and counselor alike to old and young. Her winsome and gracious personality created in her home an atmosphere of generaous hospitatlity, and her quick sympathy found expression in a ready response to every appeal for help for the needy, and "Many a poor one's blessing went with her

Beneath that low green tent,

Whose curtain never outward swings."

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Maude Morrow, Mrs. Ada Stewart and Miss Andrea Barshaw of Pe Ell, and Mrs. Lillian Seyler of Twin Bridges, Mont.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Barshaw; and thirteen grandchildren. The many friends to whom she endeared herself during her residence in Pe Ell feel in her death a personal loss.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church. The beautiful and impressive requiem high mass was sung by Rev. Father James Toner. The funeral was directed by the Sticklin Mortuary and the body was shipped to Twin Bridges, Mont., for burial in the family plot, beside the graves of her late husband, and only son. Mrs. Stewart accompanied the remains to Twin Bridges, where other relatives assembled for the final rites.
