Curtis Club Announces Garden Winners

Curtis, Nov. 12. - The Curtis Improvement Club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Jessie Battey Thursday. The following members were present: Mesdames Aase, Anderson, Brewer, Bellenger, Capron, Johnson, Goff, Parker, Pratt, Payette, Ogle and Mortimore; Misses V. Charlson, Zula Parker; and the hostess, Mrs. Battey. There were three visitors, Mrs. Lewis Miller, Mrs. Nancy Bott and Mrs. P. Rotheler. The winners of cash prizes given in the yard improvement contest were announced as follows: Mrs. John Sutherland, first; Mrs. J. P. Payette and Mrs. C. Bellenger, second and third. A committee was appointed to take care of the relief work during the winter.

In a target game contest Mrs. mortimore won first and Mrs. Bellenger second prize. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess. The club will meet November 19 at the home of Mrs. O. M. Capron.

Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Payette entertained Sunday with a dinner party. Covers were laid for eleven as follows: Mr. and Mrs. R. Lucas, Robert Lucas jr., Elizabeth Lucus, Margaret Lucas, B. Taylor of Centralia, June Theiring, Bill Payette, Alvin Payette and the host and hostess. During the evening K. Berg of Centralia and Mr. and Mrs. R. Bride joined the party. All had a delightful time.

Mrs. Nancy Bott of Ceres is enjoying a visit from her daughter, Mrs. P. Ratheler, and the latter's husband and little son of Sunnyside.

Mrs. Grant Thompson and little daughter and son are here from Hoquiam to visit her mother, rs. Jessie Battey.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Cochrane and two daughters of Seattle visited last week at the Henry Johnson home.

Joe Bowers' hand is healing nicely. It was badly injured in a feed cutter some time ago.

Mr. and Mrs. O. Goff spent Sunday at the T. J. Van Brimmer home in Napavine.
