HERMAN AHLSTRAND PASSES.

Morton, Dec. 12.-While on his way to the business section of Mineral, Herman Ahlstrand, pioneer of Mineral district of eastern Lewis county, was stricken suddenly and died within a few hours, not regaining consciousness. Funeral services were held in Mineral and interment took place in the Mineral Cemetery.

During the last three years he had been in charge of the Ohanapecosh Hot Springs, having built the new hotel there and made many other additions to the popular resort. Until the last few years, he was active in politics. For many years Mr. Ahlstrand was closely related with the timber development in eastern Lewis county, having at one time and another cruised most of the timber in the entire district. He was known and respected throughout the eastern part of the county.
