Delores contributed the following information on her Mahar family to supplement information in the 1910 and 1930 censuses. The Mahars were enumerated in the 1910 Coal Creek, 1930 Temple, and 1930 Tilton censuses.

On the 1930 Tilton census for 1930, page 22-82, there is a Lydia Pilkenton on page 1B, #90. The correct spelling of her surname is Pilkington. I do not know what her husband's name was, but will attempt to find out. Lydia was first married to Grant Ayers. Lydia Mahar Pilkington is a daughter of the Mahar family above. The eldest Mahar, Philip, wife Nancy Scott had children: Earl, Lydia Mahar Pilkington, Charles, William Andrew Mahar (wife Estella Eva), Winifred Mahar Strobel, and Louisa Mahar Erwin.

Estella Eva's father was Nels Bergersen. I am actively searching for Estella's mother's name.

Lydia's mother Nancy Scott is from a very large Andrew and Sarah (Miller) Scott family from Kansas. Obituaries for many of them, including Philip and Nancy (Scott) Mahar, can be found at: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/marshall/obitsm-r.html (Mahar, Miller) and http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/marshall/obitss-z.html (Scott).

Philip Mahar has quite an intriguing military history. He enlisted two different times, later joined Cantrell/s (?) Raiders. He ended up in both Belleville and Libby prisons, and came home with an injury from a sword as he was being taken prisoner, that plagued him during the remainder of his lifetime.

Philip Mahar/Nancy Scott Mahar's son William Andrew Mahar married Estella Eva Bergerson/sen. Estella's family can be found at worldconnect.rootsweb.com by typing Estella Bergerson for a search. You will find a web page owned by Dolores Vilardo.
