From time to time, I pick up information that relates to Lewis County, but can't seem to fit it under any other category. So, I created this page as a home for these random bits of information. Contributions are welcome, but I can't answer questions about any information posted here - what you see is all that I have.


This notice appeared in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer on July 9, 1918: "DEATH OF ALTA VISTA MAN WAS ACCIDENTAL. Chehalis, July 8- The story sent out from Centralia that J. H. Stanley, of Alta Vista, near Riffe, in eastern Lewis County, committed suicide, was a mistake. According to county officials, who made a thorough investigation of the man's death. Stanley was accidentally killed while cleaning a shotgun. Stanley leaves a widow and four young children."


This item appeared in the Tacoma News Tribune on Friday, January 17, 1919: "CENTRALIA BOYS GET DISCHARGES. Bert Faulkner returned to Centralia Wednesday, having received his discharge at Camp Lewis. The soldier was stationed at Camp Eustis, Va. when the armistice was signed and was later sent to Camp Lewis. Willard Thompson and Leslie Hopkins received their discharges at Camp Lewis Wednesday and returned home. The latter was employed as a bookkeeper by the city at the time he entered service, after which he was assigned as a clerk to the Lewis county exemption board."
