MINING TO BE BOOSTED
ARRANGEMENTS BEING MADE BY CASCADIA MINING & DEVELOPMENT CO. FOR ERECTING SMELTER IN ST. HELENS DISTRICT, REDUCING TRANSPORTATION COST.
E. A. SESSIONS, president of the Cascadia Mining & Development Co., W. A. Gray and others left Toledo Thursday for the Polar Star mine, 45 miles east of Toledo. The company has arranged to have a plant installed which will extract the values from the ores, thus eliminating the shipment of tons of ore to a smelter.
Will Boost Industry
If the plan contemplated succeeds, the mining industry in the St. Helens and Polar Star districts will receive a great impetus. Some of the mining properties in that section are very valuable and lack of transportation facilities have prevented their development.
