Marine Private Dennis W. Stafford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean W. Stafford, Centralia, recently completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif.
Robert C. Legg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Legg, Chehalis, has been promoted to machinist mate second class in the US Navy. He was aboard the USS Kearsarge which picked up Astronaut Walter Schirra. (pictured)
Marine Private Niles J. Churchill, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Churchill, Centralia recently completed four weeks of individual combat training at Camp Pendleton, Calif. (pictured)
Staff Sergeant Neal R. Auman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Auman, Kosmos, has returned from two years with the USAF in Germany. He is now stationed at Othello, Washington.
Private First Class John Gudyka Jr., enlisted one year ago for general cryptographic equipment repair at the US Army signal school, Ft. Monmouth, N. Y. Upon graduation this year, he has been assigned as an instructor at the school. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gudyka, Pe Ell. (Pictured)
Army Private Arthur Roy Turner, son of Mrs. Idell Vaughn, Gate, is now stationed at Ft. Devens, Mass. He is attending a 23 week school in radio code work. His wife, the former Rosalie Frost, Centralia will be joining him soon.
Walter R. Fechtner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald R. Fechtner, Chehalis, has been promoted to quartermaster third class in the U. S. Navy. He is serving aboard the USS Henderson and will see Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and Japan soon.
Airman Larry D. Finstad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Finstad, Silver Creek, has been promoted to Airman Second Class at Beale AFB, Calif. He is a 1960 graduate of Mossyrock high school.
Kermit Lantz, airman first class, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Lantz, Centralia, has been transferred to Clark AFB, Manila. He is a radar specialist.

Specialist Four Jesse M. Collette Jr., whose parents live in Salkum, recently graduated from the Seventh U.S. Army non-commissioned officer academy in Bad Tolz, Germany.

Robert J. Faber, airman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Faber, Centralia, is serving aboard the USS Hornet, an antisubmarine warfare aircraft carrier.
Phillip D. Abshire, airman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Abshire, Onalaska, returned to the United States recently aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Midway.
