Sadie Mae Lane, 89, of Salkum, Wash., passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at home in Salkum. Sadie was born to Zachariah and Sarah (Burks) Workman on Thursday, July 24, 1924, in Welch, W. Va.

On Aug., 9 1943, Sadie married the love of her life, Clinton Lane, in McDowell County, W. Va. Together they reared three children, Thomas, Albert and Debra. Sadie prided herself in being a devoted wife and mother. She was an excellent cook, quilter, gardener, canning the fruits of her garden and sharing her abundance with others. Sadie not only cared for her family but for her community as the president of the Somma Food Bank in Salkum and volunteering for the Mary Bridge Orthopedic Guild.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas; and grandson, Richard.

She is survived by her children, Albert Lane and Debra Moro; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Sadie will always be remembered for her sweet smile and her hospitality, always welcoming folks with an offer of pie and coffee.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Doss Cemetery, Mossyrock, Wash.
