LEWIS COUNTY DID HER PART ON BATTLEFIELDS

Mrs. J. G. Sargent, Secretary of Centralia Red Cross Chapter. In Receipt of 44 Names of Men in This Vicinity Reported Killed, Wounded or Missing.

That Lewis county did her part in the winning of the war on the battlefields of Frances is indicated by a list of 44 casualties, covering men killed, wounded or missing, received by Mrs. J. G. Sargent, secretary of the Centralia Red Cross chapter, from the Northwest division. The men named in the list all lived with the jurisdiction of the Centralia chapter and its branches. The list will be turned over to the home serivces section of the chapter for investigation as to whether or not any of the relatives of the men are in need of assistance.

The list is incomplete, and, as the Chehalis chapter and its branches are not included, it is estimated that over 100 boys of the county were either killed or wounded during the war. Of the 44 names reported to Mrs. Sargent, 19 were those of men who lost their lives. The complete list follows:

Niami Fairhart, Morton, wounded slightly.

Victor Gaume, Winlock, died of wounds.
