I am trying to find info on William Carter and his wife Mary J. Welch Carter. They were both born in Iowa. William b. 3 July 1876 and Mary b. 10 Oct. 1879. SSDI says that William died in Longview, 16 June 1967. No mention that I can find of Mary. She was a sister of my Grandfather Welch. Any help would be appreciated!

James D. Grose lived in Kelso, I believe prior to 1923, with his dad James Grose and mom, several sisters Eva Grose, Bertha Grose are a couple of them. Hazel I. Ellingson lived in Kelso/Longview on "Oklahoma Hill" with her parents Ernest and Selma Ellingson. She had brothers Sandy (Sander) Ellingson, Roy Ellingson and Elmer Ellingson. I am researching the family of Samuel DEVERS (found in Kelso city, 1st Ward of the 1910 Federal Census for Cowlitz Co., WA. Roll 1655, pg. 148, sheet 1B). Samuel Devers' wife was Nettie Mae Beam, b. May 19, 1874 in Ottawa, La Salle Co., Illinois to William & Hannah Marietta (Rhine) BEAM. William Beam is my husband's great-grandfather. I have lots more information I could say here, but keeping it short. I am searching for an obit. for Samuel C. Devers d. 5 Sept. 1945. We have Nettie's. Nettie is listed as DEAVERS in the Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens Cemetery book, and Samuel Clinton is listed along with Ernest D., Marie Henretta, & Ray as DEVERS. So they were missed when they were looking for them a few years ago for us. Thanks.

I am looking for any and all information on the family of Frank and Nettie (Minnie) HOPKINS. Mr Hopkins was a member of the South Dakota state senate from 1889-1890. He represented the 36th district. Mrs Hopkins is the daughter of Almer and Emily Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs died in Kelso at the home of his sister Mrs. Marietta Fletcher. His obit says that his interment was in Kelso. I would like to have the obits of the Hopkins and am willing to exchange lookups in South Dakota which is where i am at, Deadwood.

I am looking for additional information on the town of Olequa and possibly a map or photo of how the town was laid out in 1887. My great great grandfather, Joseph LeGard was some kind of territorial law official and was fatally stabbed in the saloon there while attempting to arrest two men. He died on the steps of William Pumphprey's home. This happened on August 28th,1887 and the only viable newspaper account of the event that I can find was in the Sept.2nd,1887 edition of the Lewis County Bee. The article also states that the event was covered up because the saloon proprietor was also the Justice of the Peace. Joseph LeGard is buried at St. Mary's Mission near Ethel. Are there any historians who may be able to provide any additional information about this event and tell exactly where the old saloon once stood?

My grandfather William Grover Cleveland Mullins (born 1892, OK) moved to Cowlitz county around 1929 with his sister Mattie May Mullins and his mother Ellen Mullins (Hunt). Mattie May married Matt Dixon (maybe in Texas) and they had two children (Elmer Dixon, and Marvin Dixon) There children may still be living in Cowlitz County. Cleveland Mullins married my grandmother Nellie Aileen Taylor on Aug. 31, 1935 (daughter of Clarence Alfred Taylor of cowlitz county). They had three Children, William George Mullins (my father), Cleve Lawrence Mullins and Sue Ellen Jane Mullins. Sue Ellen married Robert Kimble (Kindle, Kimbal)of this area and had three girls. My family lived there for a couple of years right after WW II and my next youngest brother was born there. My father's name was Victor H. Williams, Mother was Dorothy. I am Don, there was a Ron and Jack was b. in 1946. We lived on a dairy farm that was owned by someone else and my father ran it for him. I remember that when you leave town headed towards the east, no freeway at that time, you went around a curve to the left and the dairy farm was on the left. the 3rd of March 1899.)
*28th of April 1918: birth of child (June Oletta King). On child's
birth certificate Robert Lee King is listed as a mechanic.
*On the 2nd of September 1919, Stella Mae Jones divorced him in Cowlitz
Co, WA Superior Court (case No. 4247).
*1920: Robert Lee King is listed as divorced and a fireman on a steamboat
in the census. (Kelso, Cowlitz Co, WA; enum. dist 44)
Robert Lee King may have remarried and had other children.

92 when she died. She was the widow of James M. Beaston a veteran of the

I am looking for information on a Rickie (Dean) Allen born July 18,1957, and died shortly after, He was born in Cowlitz County, Washington. He was a twin. His brother was Mickie Allen. His mother was Dorothy Mae Robinson, or Davenport. His father was George F. Allen. Rickie was buried somewhere in Cowlitz Co. His mother Dorothy moved to Arkansas, near Siloam Springs. According to records in Benton Co., Arkansas, she married Geo. F. Allen, who was from Cowlitz Co. Any information on any of these names would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I'm looking for any information I can find on my wife's family. The document I have is dated July 31, 1974. It is a copy of a 1920 census taken in Cowlitz county. The numbers above the Dept of Commerce address are bm-8-307-499. The names on the document are: Murphy, Laverne A., son, 4yrs 7 mos old, enumerated in the family of Ellsworth and Bernice Murphy. I have learned that the soundex for murphy is M610 and Cowlitz county was listed as EDS41-59. Any information I can get would be helpful as my wife is trying to trace her heritage. The city the document states according to the schedule was Kalama. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Seeking information about Leonard MASON, b 1866 in Hillsdale County, MI,
moved to Turner County SD about 1877 with his father George N. Mason.
Leonard next appears in the 1910 Wahkaikum County WA census in Altoona
Precinct with wife Minnie, sons John E., Arthur R., and Leonard N. In the
1920 census, Leonard and wife Minnie are listed in Kelso, Cowlitz County
WA. No further information is available about their sons, and none of them
appear in the 1920 Washington census index. Leonard and Minnie died in the
1930's and are buried in Fern Hill Cemetery, Wahkiakum County. Greg Mason,

Ella (Wallen) Richey (B: 19 Feb 1897 & Died Aug 1980 in Longview
Ella Richey is the one I am particularly interested in as she was a sister to

I am searching for an old city or township no longer in existence from near
or around the year of 1854. City being "OLLEQUAH" near the Cowlitz river (Hudson bay fur traders or trappers). Looking for the Rabbie family in this
area of Ollequah City, Cowlitz County. Spelling on Rabbie may vary such as
Rabbi or Rabe and Rubbi. Frank Rabbie is my great grandfather from this area. He is a descendent from one of the Rabbie's. My grandfather's name is David Lester Rabbie and had a sister who recently passed away in Tacoma named Agnes Rabbie Horton. Am looking for Joseph (Joe) O'NEILL - came to Castle Rock with his brother,
Frank O'NEILL (my husband's grandfather) prior to 1900 from Illinois. Frank
was a local school teacher and store owner who later moved to Seattle. Joe
stayed and, we believe, died and was buried in Castle Rock (May 5, 1928).
Joe's children were Hertha and Hilbert (wife Jessie??). Any leads greatly

book(let) written by Hagle, Charlotte Tadlock. Titled "Cowlitz County,

Territory and State of Washington, 1859-1920, Naturalization Records".
Published by the Lower Columbia Genealogical Society in 1990. Does

Researching the family of Caswell & Jennie (MURRAY) SMITH of Castle Rock. Family came to Cowlitz Co about 1887 from MO. Caswell b KY 1855, Jennie b MO 1867. They had children: William C. (b MO 1884), Albert E. (b WA 1889), Henry Grover (b WA 1892), Mary Ellen (b WA 1895), Rosie Lee (b WA 1897), Lily Bell (b WA 1899), Robert A. (b WA 1900=1904). Jennie d abt 1904 and father placed Mary Ellen (my gm) in an orphanage in Seattle. William m Zula LEE in Kelso 1909, and probably died by 1919, when Zula m A. G. KRAMER. Robert lived with Thomas BOURLAND in Castle Rock, d 1913. No trace of other children. GM remembered "family friend" Beulah BEMIS, dau Myron & Lucy (BAILEY) BEMIS of Castle Rock. Have recently discoved Lucy was dau of Caswell's sister Elzira, who lived St. Charles Co MO and Alton IL. Looking for any information and hopefully other descendents.

My grandfather's (Jack Emil Reinikka) funeral was held at a small Finnish church on the south side of Mt. Solo, in January 1922. He was buried in the Mt. Solo Cemetery. I would like to know something about that church, i.e. when it was built, who it served, its ministers, when torn down, etc. No one I talked to at the Cowlitz Co. Historical Society seemed to know anything about it. I'd very much like to obtain a copy of a photo of the church---if such exists.
